Fajr fest to host Bulgarian movie ‘Fear’

Bulgarian ‘Fear’ is to go on screen at the Fajr Int’l filmfest in Iran.

Ivaylo Hristov’s movie ‘Fear’ has been set to take part in the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) in Iran.

The Bulgarian director’s 4th feature-length movie will be screened at the 38th edition of the major Iranian film event.

‘Fear’, shown and awarded at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia, is about Svelta, a widow who has recently lost her job.

As she lives near the Bulgarian-Turkish border, she sees lots of refuges every day. Things start to change in her life when she meets a refugee from Africa.

The film is an attempt to show how people can find common grounds regardless of their cultural and language differences.

Svelta Yancheva, Michael Flemming, Kristina Yaneva, Krassimir Dokov, Ivan Savov, Miroslava Gogovska and Stoyan Bochev are among the cast members of the flick.

This year, the FIFF will open in Tehran on May 26 and run until June 2.

The 2020 edition of the FIFF was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

The 39th edition of the national version of the festival was held on January 31-February 10.
